Global AVOD and FAST Channel operator wedotv is expanding the distribution of wedotv big stories to audiences across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) via the Eutelsat 7 West A satellite.
The FAST Channel shows factual entertainment, documentaries and other programmes covering a wide range of subjects including nature, science and outdoor adventuring.
Available free-to-air on the frequency 11,295 MHz H (SR 27,500/FEC 3/4), wedotv big stories is referenced in Sat.tv, Eutelsat’s electronic programme guide. Viewers with a connected TV will also be able to watch the channel as an IP stream via the HbbTV application. This enables Eutelsat and wedotv to run addressable advertising and gather additional audience data as well as viewing behaviours.
“We are grateful to Eutelsat for partnering with us as we expand into MENA following our growth in Italy, by leveraging the power of HbbTV. This technology enables us to deliver dynamic advertising while also providing valuable insights into customer behavior,” Philipp Rotermund, CEO and Co-Founder of wedotv told Broadband TV News.
Eutelsat 7 West A is located at 7/8° West, the leading video neighbourhood in MENA, offering around 900 TV channels which reach over 66 million TV homes across the region.
With this new partnership, wedotv is extending the reach of their FAST native content to a larger audience of connected TVs across MENA as well as a new audience of non-connected TV viewers in hard-to-reach areas beyond terrestrial networks.
Philipp Rotermund will discuss the new service in the roundtable “Addressable Advertising: Deployments, developments and challenges” at the HbbTV Symposium and Awards in London on 14 November 2024.
